a. Applying for MarriagePersons who will marry each other apply to the marriage office of the place where one of them lives. A Turkish citizen whose settlement is a village or who is going to marry a foreign person can apply to the municipal marriage office of the settlement or to the population directorate of the settlement. This application can be made in writing or verbally.
Documents Required for Application:
Identity card and identity register copy of the person to be married
In the case of people who have been married before, a document stating that their previous marriage has ended
If one of the persons to be married is small or limited, a written consent document signed by the legal representative
Health report stating that the parties do not have a disease preventing marriage
b. Examination of the applicationmarriage officer; examines the application and documents, in case of incompleteness, completes or makes up for it. If there is a legal obstacle to marriage, the marriage officer rejects the application.
c. Marriage Certificate as a result of the examination, couples who are found to have no deficiencies can obtain a marriage license in line with their wishes. With a marriage license, couples can get married in the country or abroad without the need for any research. The validity period of the marriage license is 6 months.
d. Objection to MarriageObjection to marriage is regulated in Article 24-25 of the Marriage Regulation and from the moment the marriage file starts to be prepared, until the end of the working hours of the day before the wedding day, the parties can object to the marriage by claiming that they are not qualified to marry and that there is a marriage barrier between them. This objection must be in writing. In addition, contrary to what is known, objections made on the day of marriage are not accepted.Public prosecutors can also object to the marriage until the marriage is made in the presence of absolute nullity reasons. Objection to Refusal of Application
If there is a legal obstacle to marriage, the marriage officer has the right to refuse the application. Each of the parties can apply to the court against the refusal of the marriage officer. The objection is examined and a final decision is made.The court authorized and in charge of this objection is the family court of the place where the marriage office is located.
