Standby time
Men do not need to wait to remarry after divorce. They can remarry whenever they want. For women, the situation is different. Women cannot marry until three hundred days after divorce. This period is called the iddah period. This period can be lifted by the decision of the judge. The purpose of this period is to ensure that the woman is likely to have a pregnancy due to her previous marriage and that there are no problems related to paternity.

The waiting period, namely the period of idda, is regulated in article 132/I of the Turkish Civil Code as follows; “If the marriage has ended, a woman cannot marry until three hundred days have passed from the end of the marriage. Time ends with giving birth. In cases where it is understood that the woman is not pregnant from her previous marriage or if the spouses whose marriage has ended, want to marry each other again, the court removes this period.

Infectious Disease
People who are going to get married have a medical examination before they get married. There are some diseases that prevent marriage. These diseases are included in Articles 123 and 124 of the Public Health Law. These; sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, gonorrhea and soft chancre, and leprosy. It is not possible for people with these diseases to marry. If a report is received that these diseases have passed, the obstacle will be removed. In tuberculosis, the marriage is postponed for six months, and if the person does not recover at the end of this period, the period is extended for another 6 months. There is no legal situation preventing marriage for AIDS and HIV positive individuals.
