According to the provision of article 132/1 of the Turkish Civil Code, the period of iddah that a woman should wait starting from the end of the marriage is 300 days. The date of dissolution of marriage is the date on which the divorce decision becomes final. In order for the divorce decision to be finalized by the court, the reasoned decision must be prepared and notified to the parties, and the parties must not have applied to the legal remedy within the time limit as of the notification date. When the parties do not resort to legal action or waive their rights, the divorce decision will become final. Apart from this, if the parties apply to legal action against the decision, the decision will become final if the objection is rejected by the higher court. The divorced woman has to wait for the 300-day iddat period in order to remarry as of the finalization of the decision.
